What Social Workers Do

Accredited Mental Health Social Workers (AMHSWs) are recognized providers under Medicare Australia, offering clinical social work services in mental health using various evidence-based strategies. AMHSWs work with individuals of all ages, from children to older adults, offering a holistic approach to mental health care. AMHSWs adhere to some of the highest standards of professional regulation in Australia.
Accredited Mental Health Social Workers have experience in assessing and treating individuals with mental health disorders, including depression, anxiety, personality disorders, relationship issues, life crises, adjustment problems, trauma, and family. This can include individual, family, and group therapy. Social workers understand the wider effects of mental illness on relationships, work, and education. Similar to other allied health professionals, such as psychologists, Accredited Mental Health Social Workers employ various interventions to support those with mental health disorders.
